Strasburg Family Benefit Dinner & Concert

Mike & Terri Strasburg

Mike and Terri Strasburg before Mike's illness. Mike is thinner now, but has the same great smile!

When Mike Strasburg felt intense pain in his stomach last spring, he had no idea that gall stones would lead to acute pancreatitis. Mike lay in hospitals for months in Wausau, Marshfield and Madison, often unconscious, sometimes near death. Meanwhile his wife Terri and one or more of their 14 children (many adopted) made the trip daily or spent nights at his bedside. Eventually, the stress began to cause heart problems for Terri.

Strasburg finally returned home this fall and began rebuilding his strength so he can return to work. He credits the prayers and love of many people for pulling him through. In the meantime, though, the family faces severe financial difficulties.

Mosinee United Methodist Church and friends of the Strasburg family are hosting an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner Wednesday, November 30 from 5:00-6:30pm at Mosinee UMC. The dinner is free, and donations will be accepted to help the Strasburg family.

At 6:30pm, popular local women’s gospel group the 3-4-1 Trio will give a concert. Again, this is a free performance with an offering collected to benefit the Strasburgs. This will also be 3-4-1 Trio’s farewell concert, as the group members are pursuing different directions.

Come enjoy good food and great music for a good cause.

127 Shoebox Gifts Shipped ‘Round the World

Operation Christmas Child gifts loaded in pickup truck

Santa’s pickup truck is overflowing! Elves Anna-Lisa Erickson and Jan Hansford helped to load 127 shoebox gifts packed by Mosinee churches and schools for the Operation Christmas Child project. Hansford delivered the gifts to a regional collection point November 17, and they will travel to happy, needy children around the world in the next month. Participants included Mosinee United Methodist Church, St. John’s Lutheran, Cornerstone Church, St. Paul’s faith formation class, students at Wisconsin Valley Lutheran School, members of Good News Baptist, and community members. Mosinee UMC member Jan Hansford organized the project. Hansford hopes to collect 400 shoeboxes next year. She’s going to need a bigger truck!
