Kids cleaning vegetables.

Lunch included veggies fresh-picked from our garden and prepped by the kids.

“This old house is gettin’ old…”  go the lyrics to the old gospel song. The same is true for God’s house, our church home at Mosinee UMC. Paint peels, the roof leaks, and things need fixing. But just as in the hymn where we have a savior to patch us up, our church is fortunate to have many folks who share their time to fix the leaks and paint the walls!

On Saturday, September 24, a work crew met to paint the wooden siding on the older part of the building. Although the sky threatened rain a few times during the day, we were also blessed with some sunny moments and enough dry weather to get most of the job done.

Al Hamann and Tim Botwinski did preliminary work replacing rotten siding near the Head Start door. Rob Andringa checked our old paint and made sure we had the supplies we needed. Rick Walloch loaned us his power washer, and Cheryl Huber donated a paint sprayer.

The day of the project, we had an excellent crew of workers. Pastor Park and Cameron Hunter cooked breakfast for the early arrivals. Helpers included Mike Bischel, Gwen Borth, Darwin & Linda Gregerson, Rena Henke, Cheryl Huber, Cameron, Anna and Erick Hunter, Dale Obermeier, and Brian, Shelly, Cassie and Carissa Welch. A few volunteers led by Gwen Borth are finishing the last wall this week.

The Carpenters for Christ are tackling a separate project, repairing water damage caused by a leaking roof over the office area the past few years. They are donating the cost of the project to the church. Friday September 30 and Saturday October 1 the Carpenters will repair plasterboard and insulation damaged by the leak, and begin repainting the office area. If you are interested in helping with this project, contact Rick Swanson (715-693-1780, or 2swanson@mtc.net).
