Over Christmas this year, I am going to help build a drinking water system in Yunan Province, China! The rural community we will be working in does not have any drinkable water located nearby. I will be traveling with my Aunt Iantha and students from a Chinese school. I hope to grow in my knowledge of the Chinese language and people from this experience.

The trip is December 25 through January 7. After I return, I will give a presentation at church to talk about my experience.

Over the next couple of months I am doing fundraising to earn $800 for this trip. The total cost is $3,000 This summer I saved $1,200 from my job at Briq’s, and my parents are giving me $1,000.

My family will help me host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner at the church Friday, November 15, 5-7pm. We will serve spaghetti (meat and vegetarian), salad, garlic bread, and mini cheesecakes. The dinner will be free will donations. Spaghetti for China – crazy, right? We’ll have chopsticks for those who want an authentic cross-cultural experience!

I will also help my mom make and sell custom fancy desserts. Look for the flyer on the pop machine at church about the cheesecakes, pies, and cakes we will sell. Desserts need to be ordered by December 10, and we need a week to make them. Email my mom at annalisa@itisgood.org or call 715-551-8439 to order or with questions.

This is an amazing opportunity and I am so excited! I have already been studying Chinese at Mosinee High School for over two years. If you want to know more about the trip or the fundraisers, talk to me at church, email anna@itisgood.org, or message me on Facebook.
