pray for leaders

“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.” (1 Timothy 2:1-3 NLT)

Elections are over, and we have new leaders for our church and nation. Every election passes with a sense of “Whew, that’s over!”… and with cautious optimism: “I wonder if we can do better now?”

We have good reason to be hopeful. We know that we can do all things through God who gives us strength. This is a good moment to stop and pray for our leaders and for all people.

In government, we pray that our leaders serve God by truly caring more for others than for themselves.

In church, we pray that our leaders listen to the Holy Spirit and follow Christ. We are enthusiastic about our new Accountable Leadership Board (ALB):

Jan Hansford (chairperson)
Mike Strasburg (lay leader/AC delegate)
Charmaine Prewitt (finance lead)
Linda Frale (finance treasurer)
Steve Abbott (SPRC lead)
Chuck Wirsbinski (SPRC)
Jerry Frale (trustee lead)
position available (trustee)
Crystal Duberstein (nurture-worship)
position available (outreach-missions)
John Humphrey (witness-evangelism)
Tina Kramer (nurture-education)
Julie Baker (UMW/Circuit 2.0)
Cassie Welch/Anna H (youth rep)
Carol Anderson (prayer rep)

The new leaders are meeting November 11 and 18 at 6:00pm to train, begin thinking about our church’s mission and planning for 2015. You are welcome to join us and share your thoughts!

The ALB doesn’t officially take over leadership until a special charge conference in the first quarter of 2015. In the meantime, we are so grateful to our current leaders who continue to serve.

Pray for our leaders. And remember that you are a leader in bringing others to Christ! May God bless us and grant us wisdom and strength for service!

Grace and peace,
Pastor Park
