prayer is a gift

John 16:6, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
As we go into March, we can really start thinking about spring! We also think about Lent and getting together with friends over a bowl of hot soup at Wednesday evening soup suppers before worship service.
The days are getting longer, the sun is warmer and soon we’ll see God’s growing, outside world. Spring’s leaves, flowers and grass bring freshness to the earth. The most important happening this time of year is the celebration of Easter.
Easter is the day our Lord was resurrected-a risen Christ who rose so we could be saved. What a Gift!
Have you thought about your Lenten gift to you or someone else? Common practices are to give up food for weight loss. While that’s good, you could also give of yourself; by visiting shut-ins; giving more time or food to the food pantry; inviting un-churched friends or family to join you at a worship service; help someone in need; pray more each day. Most importantly, do the Lord’s work.
It’s time to start new habits that give “Praise to the Lord”, thanking God for the gift of Jesus! Remembering what Jesus gave for each of us, what will you do in response?
One suggestion is to join the Prayer Team in the Prayer Chapel after Wednesday evening worship services. We meet around 7:15pm for a time of prayer that is good for your heart and will hopefully become a positive habit in your life. There is a warmth and peace that comes from group prayer. The candle that we light in the center of our circle is the light of God that shines on us.
The Prayer Team, Home Prayer Warriors, and Phone Prayer Team wish you a happy, blessed Lent and Easter. We pray that this Easter season brings you closer to Jesus! He will smile down on you for making Him first in your life.
Happy Easter,
Carol Anderson and the Prayer Team
John 6:40, “For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life-that I should raise them at the last day.”
